Today Kim visits with Eddie Orum about his caregiving journey. Eddie Orum is currently a caregiver for his aunt and a volunteer for AARP. Throughout his journey as a caregiver, he has relied upon community resources to increase his awareness to provide respectful care for his aunt who lives with him, and his mother who lives 3 miles away from him. Eddie Orum is currently a caregiver for his aunt and a volunteer for AARP. Throughout his journey as a caregiver, he has relied upon community resources to increase his awareness to provide respectful care for his aunt who lives with him, and his mother who lives 3 miles away from him.
As a volunteer with AARP, Orum has taken advantage of the many community resources. He has attended conferences offered by Care Partners, the Alzheimer Association, and other elder care agencies in the Houston area. Eddie Orum is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston Downtown in the department of Urban Education. He is a retired high school principal, has worked in areas to support homeless youth in the State of Texas, was a school diversity trainer for the Austin ISD, served as a school board trainer for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), and is currently a community activist for the Houston 5th Ward and the Denver Harbor communities
