The 3 Different Types of Grief and Coping During This Pandemic

Kim Hegwood | February 19, 2025

Leslie Marchand, LCSW,  is a Social Worker and Bereavement Counselor for Silverado Hospice of North Houston. She has helped countless families and patients deal with grief. She talks about the 3 different types of grief and how they can affect families struggling to understand what is happening. The Pandemic our world has experienced for the last year has made grieving more challenging as families do not always have the closure they want and need. Kim Hegwood will be talking to Leslie and learning ways that all of us can cope.
Kim will ask:

1. What are the 3 forms of grief that you’ll be discussing today? (Grief over the death of a person, anticipatory grief, and ambiguous loss)

2. Will you share a few ways someone can cope with the death of a friend or family member?

3. What is anticipatory grief?

4. What is ambiguous loss? What are the ways 3 that someone can experience this type of loss and grief?

5. How is the pandemic changing the way we grieve?
